This is just a very quick hello and hiya to any and all. I've been poking around Crevice for a few days, thinking back to the times when I used to rp Pern like my life depended on it. Ah, the good ‘ole days.
I like the 'free flow' feel here, not bogged down by a load of red tape. And you guys seem like a swell group. Mmm Hm.And totally loving the dragon header, as well as all the custom art for the weyr. Very groovy.
Well, I've got to skeedat now, but I’ll jump back on when next I can. I’ve got a few questions about getting started and such.

Greetings and welcome. Its good to see another new face, er, username ^^ Crevice prides itself on trying to not limit its members. We just can't see any point in it. Of course that has given us a few very strange things and people.
I will be happy to answer any questions you have. Right now, however, school and college seems to have slowed things down just a bit. But of course we're not going to let a silly little thing like education get in the way of roleplay =D

I’m struggling with the college business, so I understand the education painz. Actually today was my first day of classes this semester, which were for the most part normal, with only the occasional strange bit. Though strange things can be good things, I suppose. Or bad. But always interesting…yeh, strange is rarely boring.
My crippled old drill sergeant Shakespeare professor accidentally yanked down the entire overhead-projector-movie-screen-thing out of the ceiling. The one end missed his head by about four centimeters, with the other end nearly smashing a hole in the window when it came down like half a second after.
Strange… but interesting. And rather funny.
Anyhow, my main question concerns how best to bring in new characters. I was hoping to transfer in a brown rider and a candidate, and just figured I would have the rider bring in the other since they are both coming from the same previous weyr. Eventually I hope to drag in two more characters, which might be a little harder to get into Crevice, but I’ll wrestle that pig when it comes. Would this be a decent entrance? I would hope the candidate might be able to speak to the weyrwoman, as it wouldn’t be out of the brown rider’s character to simply land, grab a bite to eat (and maybe a herd beast) and then fly off for a while with an explanation or request to take up residence at Crevice. And the candidate has a few things on his mind.
Though it seems you have a thread thread (heh) starting soon, and I wouldn’t want to inhibit that progression of events. I can always bring my characters in later, too, if that would be better.

Don'tcha just love it when the school property attempts revenge on the professors ^^ I had a Government teacher who was constantly being attacked by those roll-up maps.
As for your characters, its still going to be a few hours before Thread so I could say that the Weyrwoman already knows your rider is coming and has received his papers and whatnot. He could just drop the canidate off at her feet and let her deal with it as long as the rider is prepared to fly Fall.

My government teacher was also the rugby coach. Which meant he was often hung-over. Which was often rather funny: “Hey Mr. Smith, why are we watching another movie? Are you feeling all right today, Mr. Smith? You look kind of pale and sickly. Like maybe you might throw up. Should I go get the nurse, Mr. Smith?” Yeah, he loved me.
As far as the rider goes, there’s sort of where I’ve got some questions. He didn’t particularly transfer, as much as he just sort of left. And the candidate, well, he just sort of went with him. It seems a bit irregular, though it’s rather logical (at least according to the thinking of my characters). This is why my candidate wishes to speak to the weyrwoman, sort of to try and smooth things over. Which might seem weird, since one would expect the rider to present himself to the weyrwoman before the candidate. But both of them are pretty much the same age, and the brown rider doesn’t really take much interest in following protocol….
…maybe it would be better if I posted some character sketches with a brief background bit before I start rping. (Usually I don’t post my character info until after I’ve rped them for a few days, just to see how they evolve in an environment outside of my head—I mostly I just work the history stuff into the rp).
I’m on a bit of a caffeine crash at the moment, so I’m not sure if what I’m trying to explain is making a whole lot of sense to you.

I've only ever had two coach teachers/professors and both were back at my high school. One was drop-dead gorgous as far as men go and in a strange turn of events none of the girls could pay attention in that class.
The other was a perverted, old, pedo-coach DX Heaven forbid you were the last one to class or he would walk by and be all "don't you just look pretty today." He had been there too many years for them to fire him based on being creepy.
But with your rider situation, we have actually had a few leave and come back -- with or without permission -- so it shouldn't bee too hard to get around. Weyrwoman Talla is in a pretty good mood right now so it would probablly be worth trying to talk to her soon.
If you want to post the barest of an outline of your character and fill it in as you go that would be fine. And I'm on a caffine high right now so I totally getcha.

I hate those tenure perverts… gah, you’d think if enough people complain about them that some one might do something about it. But of course not. After all, if they’ve been successfully creepy students out for fourteen years already, why fire them now? Hmph.
Sounds good. I’ll put up the bare necessities of my character profile, “first glance” type stuff like appearance, age, dragon color, etc. and then fill in the other stuff after I rp them for a bit. After all, wouldn’t want to spoil any of the good stuffs ^^
I’ll also work on an intro, and try to get to Talla before threadfall. And while she’s still in a good mood.
