Birth name: Kadalin (Kah-dull-in)
Nickname: K (or Kay)
Name notes: He doesn’t have too much of a preference to what he is called, though he will always introduce himself as Kadalin. He may think it odd if a stranger calls him K, but otherwise he doesn’t really distinguish, or care to.

Age: 19, nearly 20 turns
Sexual preference: heterosexual
Rank: Candidate (pending)

Height: Slightly taller than average
Hair color: dark blonde/ light brown
Hair length: slightly below the shoulders, collarbone area
Hair type: wavy and unkempt, non-textured
Facial hair: none and never—he can’t tolerate the itch
Eye color: Grey
Eye structure: youthful and average to wide set eyes, with deep sockets
Brows: medium-light; low inner brow which arches at the middle
Skin: more yellow tone than pink; tans deep bronze and holds it well—burns only occasionally.

Family background: ((see parenthetical segment in D’rval’s profile)) Before Kadalin, his mother miscarried once, and then gave birth to a sickly daughter who died soon after birth. His younger sister also died at a young age, three or four turns, and when Kadalin was about seven turns his mother died giving birth to his little brother. Kadalin himself had been of a weak constitution for the first few turns of his life. Kadalin’s father was very active in the clan, less active in Kadalin’s life, and the boy was more the son of the clan than the son of his father. The relationship between the two was respectful distant and indifferent. Kadalin had a few cousins, the closest in age being Dalderval. Few other relatives bear mentioning.

Brief history: Learned the art of breaking and bartering runners skillfully and quickly, but abandoned the craft after being search at the end of his 13th year by a weyr desperately seeking male candidates. Though neither he nor his cousin (who was also searched) wished to associate with dragonriders, they both felt a restlessness to explore more of Pern than their little clan corner of the desert. Six turns later, when Dalderval deserted the weyr with his brown dragon Hroth, heading south, Kadalin accompanied them.
