Crevice Weyr is set in the 10th Pass. AIVAS had been re-discovered and had helped the Weyrs to destroy the menace of Thread forever, or so they hoped. As the Weyrs disbanded, the Red Star awaited in its new orbit until the gavitational pull of Pern caught it again 40 Turns later, hanging it quietly in the sky for another 50.
In the time when the skies were free of Thread, the same fate that fell over the humans and dragons both in previous Turns fell over the grubs introduced by the first colonists. A plague so small that the human inhabitants of Pern did not even notice it as the grubs beneath their feet began to shrink drastically in number. Plants imported between the continents carried the infected grubs until the species was erradicated. Farmers were only glad to see the end of the vermin whose greater purpose had disappeared with the Red Star.
But the Red Star was not so easily gotten rid of. The dragon riders were only just begining to settle in to their hassle-free lives when the reports of Thread spread across the continents. They scrambled to regroup, to form new Weyrs, to rise and flame. Thread now falls in a less intense pattern. The Falls are shorter and more spaced out, but still predictable. Dragon riders are once again protectors of Pern...
...But this time they have help.

I'm going to try and set up a timeline to all the major events in Crevice's history. If you think I missed something or just want a signifigant point in your characters history added up here, let me know. Right now I just have the ooc dates but I intend to figure out the ic dates too.

The Death
Many, many turns ago Crevice Weyr thrived with life. Nomadic clans surrounded the canyon cut deep into the desert floor. A stream that trickled through the rocks sustained life in this Weyr. However, nothing more than a foolish accident left this Weyr hopeless, then empty.
There had been problems with one desert clan and the Weyrwoman had taken it upon herself to right things. Out in the desert, between is simply not done. Every inch of sand looks the same as the next, but the strain put on the Weyrwoman plus the fatigue of a long night's flight over the desert caused her to risk both her life and the life of her dragon as they attempted to between back to the Weyr.
They never made it and the mournful calls of the dragons echoed through the canyon caves. It wasn't long after that before the Weyr -- small as it was already -- began to disperse. The Queen dragon had yet to clutch, so no golden egg rested on the sands and no other Queen was in the Weyr. With no one wanting to transfer to such a forbidding place, the population dwindled to nothing. The caves were left empty for turns with only the creatures of the desert inhabiting them once again.
The Rebirth
Upon a routine flight over the desert to make sure the nomads that were there were keeping their peace, a brownrider spotted a canyon in the distance. It had been a long, hot flight and the shade the canyon would have seemed like an oasis. He set his course towards the scar in the desert floor and upon his arrival looked into the crevice with shock.
There was a cool water spring the trickled through the canyon and caves pocketed its walls. But what caught his attention was scattered debris of old oil pots and trinkets that marked human inhabitation as well as claw marks and wallows in the canyon floor that were definitly made from dragons.
Could this have been the place where the fallen desert Weyr once stood? It had lived a short life, so few records were kept of it. Many figured it to be nothing more than an inhabitable hole from storied they had heard.
But this place was truly an oasis in the desert.
